BASEBALL

NON-SECTION

Belle Vernon 10, Gateway 4

Adam LaCarte was a home run away from the cycle and had three RBIs as Belle Vernon (8-10) won a non-section game over Gateway (6-13). Brandon Bell had two home runs for Gateway.

Bethel Park 3, Chartiers Valley 2

Evan Holewinski was 2-for-2 as Bethel Park (14-4) picked up a 3-2 victory in non-section play on Wednesday. Jack Edner threw four scoreless innings to pick up the win on the mound for Bethel Park. 

Blackhawk 13, Moon 6

Owen Kiester went 3-for-5 and drove in five runs and Carter Davis collected 10 strikeouts on the mound as Blackhawk (13-2) looked good in a playoff tune-up against Moon (8-10) on Wednesday. Will Marasco picked up two hits for Moon.

Butler 9, Upper St. Clair 3

Conner McTigher and Madden Clement each went 3-for-4 and Liam McElroy and Mac Schnur both had two RBIs as Butler (11-8) won in non-section play over Upper St. Clair (9-11) on Wednesday.

West Allegheny 11, McKeesport 1

Ben Kern struck out five and got the win as West Allegheny (13-6) handled McKeesport (5-11) in non-section play on Wednesday.

Shaler 3, North Allegheny 2

Luke Jarzynka had two RBIs as Shaler (16-4) finished the regular season with a win over North Allegheny (12-6) in non-section play.

Seneca Valley 1, North Hills 0

Aedan Fowler and Paul Rebovich combined for the shutout as Seneca Valley (16-4) out-pitched North Hills (12-6) in their regular season finale. Hunter Troiano hit a sacrifice fly to score the only run of the game. Jake Pollaro threw five innings allowing one run for North Hills but was hitched with the loss.

Trinity 8, Thomas Jefferson 6

Gibson Havanis homered and had two RBIs and Jonah Williamson also had two RBIs as Trinity (6-8) defeated Thomas Jefferson (8-11) 8-6 on Wednesday. Elias Lippincott had two RBIs for Thomas Jefferson.

New Castle 2, Laurel 0

Isaiah Miller threw a complete-game shutout striking out six. Dom Fortunato homered and drove in two runs as New Castle (5-9) defeated Laurel (7-12) in a battle of Lawrence County. RJ Kissick was 2-for-3 for Laurel.

Connellsville 8, Albert Gallatin 0

SOFTBALL

6A SECTION 1

Hempfield 10, Butler 0

Peyton Heisler had two RBIs and Julia Varhola struck out five as Hempfield (16-2, 13-2) kept their hope of the top seed in 6A alive with a 10-0 win over Butler (2-15, 2-14) on Wednesday. 

Canon-McMillan 2, Baldwin 0

Brooke Bumer threw a complete-game shutout as Canon-McMillan (7-11, 6-10) took down Baldwin (2-17, 2-14) in Section 1-6A action on Wednesday. Keira Platz collected two hits for Baldwin. The Canon-McMillan win eliminated Mt. Lebanon from the playoffs.

Belle Vernon 10, Connellsville 1

Gracie Sokol homered and had two RBIs while Maren Metikosh homered and drove in three runs as Belle Vernon (14-4) picked up a nice non-section win over Connellsville (2-13) on Wednesday. Talia Ross struck out 10 for Belle Vernon.

Chartiers Valley 9, Trinity 2

Madison Crump homered twice and had four RBIs as Chartiers Valley (16-2) beat Trinity (14-2) in a non-section contest on Wednesday. Miranda Rinehart was 2-for-3 for Trinity.

Franklin Regional 6, Knoch 0

Carli Ramchandran went six scoreless and Madison Nguyen was 2-for-3 driving in three runs as Franklin Regional (11-6) shut out Knoc (10-8) in a non-section game on Wednesday. Sydney Jackson and Toryn Fulton each had two hits for Franklin Regional.

Fox Chapel 11, Leechburg 1

Ava Walmsley and Adina Rosen both drove in two runs and Hunter Taylor struck out 11 in the circle as Fox Chapel (7-11) defeated Leechburg (10-7) in non-section action.

South Fayette 7, Montour 3

Cam Valentino was 4-for-4, driving in two runs and Emma Earley struck out 11 as South Fayette (9-9) won in non-section action over Montour (13-2) on Wednesday.

Penn-Trafford 20, Penn Hills 4

Cameron Ponko drove in four runs, Lorryn Sepe homered and had two RBIs and Rilie Moors drove in two runs as Penn-Trafford (6-10) brought the bats, putting up 20 runs in a win over Penn Hills (7-9). Cassidy Burkovich collected two hits and drove in two runs for Penn Hills.

Peters Township 20, Keystone Oaks 9

Skylar Lemansky hit a home run and had five RBIs and Sami Bewick homered and had two RBIs as Peters Township (6-10) slugged their way to a non-section victory over Keystone Oaks (0-14). Emerson Gatten had three RBIs for Peters Township.

Armstrong 10, Pine-Richland 6

Jordyn Klingensmith hit a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the seventh to give Armstrong (16-1) a 10-6 win over Pine-Richland (6-14) on Wednesday. Isabella Atherton, Jenna Clontz and Jessica Pugh all homered for Armstrong. Jocelyn Langer was 3-for-3 and Marissa DeLuca homered for Pine-Richland.

Shenango 10, New Castle 4

Madison Iwanejko homered and had two RBIs, Raegan Lynn had three RBIs and Kennedi Lynn struck out 11 in the circle as Shenango (7-8) defeated Lawrence County rival New Castle (4-13). Olivia Hood homered and had three RBIs for New Castle.

Thomas Jefferson 8, Yough 6

Zoe Krizan homered and had two RBIs and Alli Chalovich homered as Thomas Jefferson (13-5) took down Yough (9-4) in non-section play. Sidney Bergman was 3-for-4 for Yough.

Bethel Park 11, Seton LaSalle 2

Lupe McElvenny was 4-for-4 with two RBIs and Mackenzie Wade threw a complete game striking out nine as Bethel Park (7-10) defeated Seton LaSalle (5-10) on Wednesday. Anna Duguid collected two hits and drove in two for Bethel Park. Gianna Ferrieri and Kamiya Morris each had two hits for Seton LaSalle
