BASEBALL

6A SECTION 1

North Allegheny 5, Allderdice 0

Nicolas Varlotta threw a complete game no-hitter with nine strikeouts as North Allegheny (8-2, 5-1) swept Allderdice (1-9, 0-9) in Section 1-6A play. 

Pine-Richland 3, Seneca Valley 2

Jacob McGuire went 6 ⅔ innings allowing two runs as Pine-Richland (11-4, 6-3) took two out of three from Seneca Valley (11-2, 4-2) with a 3-2 win on Thursday afternoon. Sam Grana got the save and Owen Henne and Peyton Ford each had two hits. Evan Tomasic was 2-for-2 for Seneca Valley.

6A SECTION 2

Central Catholic 4, Baldwin 3

Antonio Cordeiro homered and drove in three runs as Central Catholic (5-6, 4-5) took down Baldwin (4-10, 2-7) in section play on Thursday. 

Canon-McMillan 2, Hempfield 1

Austyn Winkleblech struck out five and got the win on the mound as Canon-McMillan (8-4, 6-3) won a pitcher’s duel against Hempfield (9-4, 7-2) in Section 2-6A play. Carson Shuglie homered for Hempfield.

Mt. Lebanon 2, Norwin 1 – 10 innings

Nolan Smith hit a walk-off sacrifice fly as Mt. Lebanon (4-9, 4-5) took the series from Norwin (4-9, 4-5) on Thursday afternoon. Weston Airy threw three scoreless in relief to pick up the win. Ryan Mesko tied the game in the seventh inning for Norwin.

NON-SECTION

Butler 5, Shaler 0

James Desmond struck out five hitters in five innings as Butler (6-5) picked up a nice non-section shutout against Shaler (10-3). Noah Collins had two hits for Butler.

Connellsville 10, Mt. Pleasant 4

Ethan Porreca got the win on the mound as Connellsville (5-4) got the bats going and picked up a non-section win over Mt. Pleasant (4-8) on Thursday afternoon.

North Hills 6, Knoch 5

Jake Pollaro had two hits and drove in three runs as North Hills (10-2) defeated Knoch (3-10) in non-section action on Thursday. Walt Vitovich had two hits for North Hills.

Penn-Trafford 6, Ringgold 3

Tyler Freas and Chuck Fontana each had two hits as Penn-Trafford (7-3) picked up a non-section win over Ringgold (4-8) 6-3.

Plum 7, Thomas Jefferson 5

Caden Norcutt was 3-for-4 and drove in three runs as Plum (5-8) defeated Thomas Jefferson (6-7) in non-section play on Thursday afternoon.

West Mifflin 3, Upper St. Clair 2

Devin Kincaid had two RBIs as West Mifflin (12-1) picked up an impressive non-section win over Upper St. Clair (8-6) on Thursday night. Eli Mandler and Braeden Coyle each had two hits for Upper St. Clair.

SOFTBALL

6A SECTION 1

North Allegheny 12, Mt. Lebanon 1

Sammy Plotsko homered and drove in six runs as North Allegheny (9-4, 6-3) slugged their way to a 12-1 victory over Mt. Lebanon (3-6, 2-5) in Section 1-6A action on Thursday. Anne Melle and Reagan Sheets each had two doubles for North Allegheny.

Seneca Valley 5, Butler 0

Lexie Hames tossed a complete game no-hitter with 16 strikeouts as Seneca Valley (9-1, 8-1) shut out Butler (2-8, 2-7) in section play on Thursday. Kara Pasquale had two hits for Seneca Valley.

NON-SECTION

New Castle 9, Shenango 6

Keara Mangieri had two hits as New Castle (4-6) won in non-section play on Thursday afternoon against Shenango (4-5).
