BASEBALL

6A SECTION 1

North Allegheny 4, Allderdice 0

David Posey threw a complete game one-hitter as North Allegheny (7-2, 4-1) took the second game of the section series with Allderdice (1-8, 0-8) shutting them out 4-0. Ian Zahorchak homered for North Allegheny.

Seneca Valley 4, Pine-Richland 0

Zach Tkatch was the winning pitcher as Seneca Valley (11-1, 4-1) evened up the series with Pine-Richland (10-4, 5-3) with a 4-0 win on Wednesday. Brock White was 2-for-2 with two RBIs for Seneca Valley.

6A SECTION 2

Hempfield 11, Canon-McMillan 1

Carson Shuglie, Caden Biondi, Gage Wheaton and Adam Hess all drove in two runs as Hempfield (9-3, 7-1) got the bats going and defeated Canon-McMillan (7-4, 5-3) 11-1 on Wednesday. Dylan Firmstone had two hits for Hempfield.

Central Catholic 8, Baldwin 0

Ryan Tatar threw a no-hitter and Antonio Cordeiro went 3-for-5 with a home run and drove in four runs as Central Catholic (4-6, 3-5) bounced back to even the series with a 8-0 win over Baldwin (4-9, 2-6) on Wednesday afternoon. Ian Trott had two RBIs for Central Catholic.

Norwin 10, Mt. Lebanon 2

Nolan Ryan had three hits including two home runs and drove in six runs as Norwin (4-8, 4-4) bounced back to take the second game of the section series with Mt. Lebanon (3-9, 3-5). Keegan Carr was 2-for-2 for Norwin.

5A SECTION 1

Franklin Regional 7, Fox Chapel 3

Brady Yarabinetz had three RBIs while Lucas Williams drove in two as Franklin Regional (8-3, 4-2) split the series with Fox Chapel (6-5, 6-2) with a 7-3 section win on Wednesday. 

Plum 12, Penn Hills 1

Ian Wong was 2-for-2 and drove in four runs as Plum (5-7, 3-3) completed the sweep of Penn Hills (2-7, 1-7) with a 12-1 Section 1-5A win on Wednesday afternoon. Colin Watson had three RBIs for Plum. 

5A SECTION 2

Peters Township 3, Bethel Park 2 – 9 innings

Jack Lutte hit a walk-off homer in the bottom of the ninth inning as Peters Township (6-5, 3-3) savored a split with Bethel Park (7-4, 5-1) in Section 2-5A play on Wednesday.

Upper St. Clair 4, Trinity 3

Ty Lagoni hit a walk-off sacrifice fly to give Upper St. Clair (8-5, 2-4) a Section 2-5A win over Trinity (4-3, 3-3). Gibson Havanis had two hits for Trinity.

5A SECTION 3

Mars 10, New Castle 1

Ben Astbury collected two hits and four RBIs and Charles Bickel went 2-for-3 and got the win on the bump as Mars (6-5, 3-3) bounced back to split the series with New Castle (2-7, 1-5) with a 10-1 win on Wednesday. Bickel drove in two runs for Mars.

Moon 4, North Hills 1

Marco Chenet was 3-for-3 and Coleman Fletcher struck out nine as Moon (5-5, 2-4) handed North Hills (9-2, 5-1) their first section loss of the season with a 4-1 victory on Wednesday afternoon. Caden Schmidt drove in two runs for Moon.

West Allegheny 4, Shaler 3

Will Gubba’s RBI single in the sixth inning put West Allegheny (7-5, 2-4) up for good as they handed Shaler (10-2, 5-1) their first section loss of the season on Wednesday. Chase Beran homered for Shaler and Miguel Hugas had two RBIs.

6A SECTION 1

Hempfield 9, North Allegheny 2

Norwin 14, Canon-McMillan 5

Josey Michalski homered and had five RBIs while Madie Kessler homered and had two RBIs as Norwin (10-2, 8-1) kept the offense going with a 14-5 win over Canon-McMillan (4-6, 3-5) on Wednesday. Morgan Doyle collected two hits for Canon-McMillan.

Pine-Richland 7, Butler 4

Calle Henne was 3-for-4 with a home run and drove in three runs as Pine-RIchland (3-9, 3-6) defeated Butler (2-7, 2-6) in Section 1-6A play. Marissa DeLuca had two RBIs for Pine-Richland. Kelsey Ogin homered for Butler.

Seneca Valley 7, Baldwin 0

Lexie Hames continued her impressive season with 18 more strikeouts in a complete-game shutout as Seneca Valley (8-1, 7-1) rolled Baldwin (0-12, 0-9) in section play. Hames also homered. Bella Good homered for Seneca Valley while Kara Pasquale had two RBIs.

5A SECTION 4

Connellsville 10, Peters Township 3

Kirra Davis hit two home runs and drove in seven runs as Connellsville (2-7, 2-3) outslugged Peters Township (3-7, 1-4) in Section 4-5A play on Wednesday. Morgan Adams had a home run and two RBIs for Connellsville. Mackenzie Morgan had a two-run homer for Peters Township.

NON-SECTION 

Burrell 6, South Fayette 0

Katie Armstrong struck out 14 batters as Burrell (5-4) shut out South Fayette (6-6) 6-0 in non-section action on Wednesday afternoon. Pyper Ferres had two hits and Braelyn Jones had two RBIs for Burrell.

Kiski Area 13, Fox Chapel 2

Trinity Seibel was 2-for-2 and drove in three runs as Kiski Area (5-4) picked up a non-section victory over Fox Chapel (4-6) on Wednesday afternoon.

Mt. Pleasant 3, Franklin Regional 0

Gianna Stanek threw six shutout innings as Mt. Pleasant (8-5) won in non-section action against Franklin Regional (5-5). Toryn Fulton went 3-for-4 for Franklin Regional. The Panthers had 10 hits in the game despite being shut out.

North Hills 10, Mars 6

Abigail Sutton homered and had four RBIs as North Hills (9-1) slugged their way to a 10-6 win over Mars (5-5) in non-section action on Wednesday. Hanna Murphy had two hits for North Hills. Laura Craska homered for Mars.

Upper St. Clair 6, Moon 3

Sydney Fisher had three RBIs and Brooklyn Kemp drove in two runs as Upper St. Clair (7-3) won in non-section play against Moon (1-7) on Wednesday.

Chartiers Valley 3, Thomas Jefferson 2

Caitlin O’Farrell drove in the winning run in the fifth inning as Chartiers Valley (11-1) defeated Thomas Jefferson (8-4) 3-2 in non-section play on Wednesday.
