BASEBALL

6A SECTION 1

Pine-Richland 4, Seneca Valley 2

Tanner Cunningham collected two hits as Pine-Richland (10-3, 5-2) handed Seneca Valley (10-1, 3-1) their first loss of the season with a 4-2 victory in the series opener. Creed Erdos had two hits for Seneca Valley.

Hempfield 7, Canon-McMillan 6

Mt. Lebanon 10, Norwin 0

Nolan Smith drove in three runs and Matthew Delvaux struck out eight as Mt. Lebanon (3-8, 3-4) took the series opener from Norwin (3-8, 3-4) with a 10-0 victory on Monday. 

5A SECTION 1

Armstrong 8, Gateway 5 – 8 innings

Haden Brink had two hits, one of them being a home run, and got the win out of the bullpen as Armstrong (8-2, 5-2) trailed by three in the seventh inning and came back to defeat Gateway (4-6, 1-4) in the series opener. Mason Schrecongost and Caden Rupert each had three hits for Armstrong. Brandon Bell was 2-for-3 with a bomb for Gateway.

Fox Chapel 4, Franklin Regional 2

Fox Chapel (6-4, 6-1) trailed by one heading into the top of the seventh and scored three runs in the frame to come back and beat Franklin Regional (7-3, 3-2) in the series opener on Monday afternoon. Ben DeMotte hit a sacrifice fly to give Fox Chapel the lead in the seventh. Zach Johnston had two hits and was the winning pitcher for Fox Chapel.

Plum 8, Penn Hills 3

Caden Norcutt and Erik Streussnig each had two hits as Plum (4-6, 2-2) got back to .500 in the section as they defeated Penn Hills (1-7, 0-7) in Section 1-5A play on Monday afternoon.

5A SECTION 2

South Fayette 9, Connellsville 2

South Fayette (9-3, 2-3) jumped all over Connellsville (4-6, 2-3) scoring five runs in the first inning and coasted to a 9-2 section victory on Monday. Cooper Lucas had two hits for South Fayette.

Franklin Regional 18, Gateway 0

Ciara Camcho, Alexa Patberg and Madison Nguyen each homered for Franklin Regional (5-4, 3-2) as they took care of business against Gateway (1-8, 0-5) in section play on Monday afternoon.

Armstrong 16, Kiski Area 7

Isabella Atherton was 4-for-5 and drove in three runs as Amrstrong (9-1, 5-0) rolled past Kiski Area (4-4, 1-4) in section play on Monday afternoon. Jenna Clontz also drove in three runs for Armstrong. Kaylee Musco and Alyssa Perona each had home runs for Kiski Area.

Latrobe 11, Penn-Trafford 0

Josie Straigis went 2-for-2 with a home run and drove in four and Kayla Williams homered with two RBIs as Latrobe (9-1, 4-1) rolled over Penn-Trafford (3-7, 2-3) with an 11-0 Section 2-5A win.

5A SECTION 3

West Allegheny 17, Mars 5

Ava Henke went 3-for-4 driving in three runs and Aubrey Police hit a home run as West Allegheny (12-1, 5-0) stayed unbeaten in section play with a 17-5 win over Mars (5-4, 3-2). Taylor Schmitt was 3-for-3 and homered for Mars.

South Fayette 12, Western Beaver 8

Julia Munkittrick had two RBIs as South Fayette (6-5, 3-2) got back above .500 with a 12-8 win over Western Beaver (5-5, 2-3) on Monday afternoon. Shaylyn Shall had two hits for Western Beaver while Emma Bogacki had three RBIs.

5A SECTION 4

Upper St. Clair 10, Thomas Jefferson 6

Elisa Tucker was 3-for-4 and drove in three runs as Upper St. Clair (5-3, 3-2) picked up a section victory over Thomas Jefferson (8-3, 3-2) on Monday afternoon.
