BASEBALL

5A SECTION 1

Franklin Regional 10, Penn Hills 1

Maxwell Bernadowski threw six innings allowing one run as Franklin Regional (6-0, 2-0) swept Penn Hills (0-2, 0-2) with a 10-1 win on Wednesday afternoon. Blake Bertucci had two hits for Franklin Regional. Philmore Austin had two hits for Penn Hills.

NON-SECTION

Allderdice 5, Keystone Oaks 1

Landon Blank homered and Zack Shook had two hits and was the winning pitcher going six innings and striking out 11 as Allderdice (1-0) won their opener 5-1 against Keystone Oaks (0-2).

Butler 4, Beaver 3

Connor McTighe was 3-for-3 for Butler (2-1) as the Golden Tornado walked it off on Beaver (2-1), 4-3, in non-section action on Wednesday afternoon.

North Hills 2, Hampton 1 – 8 innings

Liam Burns hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the eighth inning to give North Hills (3-1) another non-section win over Hampton (1-3) 2-1 in eight innings. Austin Bachowski gave up one hit over seven innings for North Hills. Eric Weeks had two hits for Hampton. 

West Allegheny 4, McKeesport 2

Mason Gass threw a complete game, striking out 10 batters as West Allegheny (3-0) held off McKeesport (1-3) 4-2. Tashaun Herriot went 3-for-3 for McKeesport.

Seneca Valley 5, Mt. Lebanon 3

Matt Delduca and Nick Parrotto each had two RBIs for Seneca Valley (3-0) as they stayed perfect with a 5-3 win over Mt. Lebanon (0-4) on Wednesday. Nolan Smith and Tanner Donati each had two hits for Mt. Lebanon.

SOFTBALL

6A SECTION 1

Hempfield 10, Mt. Lebanon 0

Riley Miller homered and got the win on the mound as Hempfield (3-1, 1-1) rolled Mt. Lebanon (0-2, 0-1) 10-0 on Wednesday afternoon. Claire Mitchell and Allie Cervola each hit home runs and Margaret Howard was 4-for-4.

North Allegheny 9, Canon-McMillan 7

Sammy Plotsko went 3-for-3 and drove in three runs as North Allegheny (5-1, 2-0) stayed undefeated in the section defeating Canon-McMillan (0-2, 0-2) 9-7 on Wednesday afternoon. Mayson Brokos had three hits as well for North Allegheny. Kiersten Williams was 3-for-4 with a bomb for Canon-McMillan.

Norwin 12, Butler 4

Emma Novotnak and Bailey Snowberger each hit home runs for Norwin (4-1, 2-0) and Alyssa McCormick and Madie Kessler each had three hits as the Knights lit up the scoreboard defeating Butler (0-3, 0-2) 12-4 in section play. Kelsey Ogin had two hits and drove in two runs for Butler.

NON-SECTION

Armstrong 7, Freeport 1

Jenna Clontz homered and had five RBIs as Armstrong (3-1) picked up a non-section victory over Freeport (2-1) on Wednesday.

Latrobe 4, Connellsville 0

Kayla Williams threw a complete game shutout with nine punch outs as Latrobe (5-0) took down Connellsville (0-2) 4-0 in non-section play on Wednesday afternoon.

Mars 8, Knoch 3

Laura Craska and Annalyn Isaacs each had three hits as Mars (2-1) got over .500 with a 8-3 victory over Knoch (0-4). 

North Hills 8, Moon 3

Brenna Westwood had four hits for North Hills (5-0) while Addyson Wrigley had three hits as North Hills (5-0) kept their perfect record intact beating Moon (1-2) 8-3. Ava Karpa had two hits for Moon.

Bethel Park 13, Penn-Trafford 3

Allison Jones went 3-for-3 while Anna Duguid had two hits and three RBIs as Bethel Park (1-1) picked up their first win of the season defeating Penn-Trafford (1-3) 13-3.

South Park 5, Peters Township 1

Sydney Sekey threw a complete game, striking out eight batters to propel South Park (2-0) to a 5-1 victory over Peters Township (1-2). Jacie Hilligsburg drove in three runs for South Park.

Shaler 6, Franklin Regional 3

Eloise Facher and Bethany Rodman each homered and had three RBIs as Shaler (4-0) picked up another win, beating Franklin Regional (1-2) 6-3. Toryn Fulton hit a home run for Franklin Regional. 

Thomas Jefferson 6, West Mifflin 4

Jadyn Davis hit a sac fly in the fifth inning to give Thomas Jefferson (3-1) the lead for good as they took down West Mifflin (3-1) 6-4 in non-section play on Wednesday. Morgan Alisesky and Taylor Karpac each had two hits for Thomas Jefferson, Alisesky had two RBIs.
