BASEBALL

NON-SECTION

Canon-McMillan 9, Upper St. Clair 2

Andrew Kocan was 4-for-4 while Tyson Mead had three hits and drove in two runs as Canon-McMillan (2-1) took down previously undefeated Upper St. Clair (3-1) 9-2 in a non-section game on Thursday. 

Pine-Richland 7, North Catholic 4

Jacob McGuire went 2-for-3 and drove in three runs and was the winning pitcher as Pine-Richland (5-1) defeated North Catholic (0-2), 7-5 in non-section play.

Seneca Valley 5, Plum 2

Josh Wolfe had two RBIs and Owen Yarussi had two hits as Seneca Valley (4-0) remained undefeated with a 5-2 victory over Plum (1-3) on Thursday afternoon. Logan Kemmerer had two hits for Plum.

South Fayette 15, Keystone Oaks 0 – 4 innings

Josh Yate and Dom Kushner each had two RBIs and South Fayette (6-0) score seven runs in the first inning and rolled to a 15-0, four inning victory over Keystone Oaks (0-3) on Thursday afternoon.

Peters Township 11, Fox Chapel 4

Jack Lutte went 4-for-4 with a home run as Peters Township (2-2) rolled Fox Chapel (1-4), 11-4, in non-section play on Thursday. Dom Cassol and Ben DeMotte had home runs for Fox Chapel.

North Hills 12, Gateway 6

Jake Pollaro drove in three runs and was the winning pitcher as North Hills (4-1) picked up a nice non-section win over Gateway (3-1), 12-6, on Thursday afternoon. Nolan Boehm hit a home run and Noah Colberg had three RBIs for Gateway.

Connellsville 9, Yough 1

Kace Shearer was 3-for-4 with all of his hits being doubles, Matthew Firestone and Anthony Piasecki each drove in three runs as Connellsville (2-2) got back to .500 with a 9-1 non-section win over Yough (5-2). Ethan Porreca was the winning pitcher for Connellsville.

Moon 2, Ambridge 1

Andrew Bures went six innings allowing one hit for Moon (2-1) as they won a pitcher’s duel with Ambridge (0-2) 2-1 on Thursday afternoon in non-section play. Nate Barr earned the save. 

Mars 2, Butler 0

Jacob Maple was the winning pitcher and Chase Winstead had two hits as Mars (3-2) shut out Butler (2-2) 2-0 in non-section action on Thursday.

North Allegheny 10, Norwin 3

JD Costanzo and David Posey each hit home runs as North Allegheny (1-0) slugged their way past Norwin (0-4) 10-3 in non-section action on Thursday afternoon. Spencer Barnett had three hits and two RBIs for North Allegheny. Keegan Carr homered for Norwin.

West Allegheny 10, Armstrong 2

Brock Cornell had three hits and drove in two runs as West Allegheny (4-0) picked up another non-section win, this time against Armstrong (3-2), 10-2. Will Gubba was the winning pitcher. Carson DeLano was 3-for-3 for Armstrong.

Hempfield 4, Latrobe 3

SOFTBALL

6A SECTION 1

Pine-Richland 19, Baldwin 8

Izzy Sulesky and Marissa DeLuca each homered and had six RBIs. Abbey Laurent hit a home run and drove in three runs as Pine-Richland (2-3, 2-0) coasted to a 19-8 victory over Baldwin (0-4, 0-2). Sulesky was the winning pitcher. Angelina Caporali homered and had three RBIs and Anna Schumacher homered for Baldwin.

NON-SECTION

Fox Chapel 9, Peters Township 8

Alina Stiger drove in two runs as Fox Chapel (2-2) trailed 8-3 going into the sixth inning and scored six runs to come back and beat Peters Township (1-3) 9-8, in non-section play. Sami Bewick had two home runs and drove in four for Peters Township.

Hempfield 9, Penn-Trafford 2

Hannah Uhrenek drove in three runs and Riley Miller struck out nine in the circle as Hempfield (4-1) defeated Penn-Trafford (1-4), 9-2, on Thursday afternoon. Kylie Anthony had two RBIs for Penn-Trafford.

Thomas Jefferson 11, Keystone Oaks 3

Liv Stock drove in five runs as Thomas Jefferson (4-1) picked up another non-section win over Keystone Oaks (0-2), 11-3. Leah Harmel had two hits for Keystone Oaks.

Kiski Area 4, Knoch 3

Hannah Hill was 4-for-4 including a walk-off single as Kiski Area (3-0) survived 4-3 in a thriller against Knoch (0-5) in a non-section game on Thursday. Isabella Delia had two RBIs for Kiski Area.

Mohawk 13, New Castle 3

Makenna Stewart drove in four runs, Mylie Pistorius had two hits and drove in three while Alivia Hare had two RBIs as Mohawk’s (3-0) offense rolled over New Castle (1-2), 13-3, on Thursday afternoon. Olivia Hood had two RBIs for New Castle.

Penn Hills 10, Highlands 2

Gabrielle Pernatozzi had two RBIs as Penn Hills (3-0) remained undefeated with a 10-2, non-section win over Highlands (0-4) on Thursday afternoon. 

Shaler 12, Bethel Park 0

Eloise Facher homered and Bethany Rodman got the shutout in the circle as Shaler (5-0) defeated Bethel Park (1-2) 12-0, in 5A non-section action on Thursday.

Avonworth 9, South Fayette 1

Alivia Lantzy tossed a one-hitter with 15 strikeouts and hit a home run as Avonworth (6-0) rolled South Fayette (3-3), 9-1, in non-section play on Thursday afternoon. Emma Obersteiner and Rylee Gray also homered for Avonworth.

Laurel 6, Western Beaver 1

Grace Kissick went 4-for-4, drove in three runs, and was the winning pitcher as Laurel (2-0) defeated Western Beaver (2-1), 6-1, in a battle of unbeaten teams.
