BASEBALL

6A SECTION 1

Seneca Valley 9, Allderdice 3

Nick Parrotto homered and drove in three runs as Seneca Valley (5-0, 1-0) remained undefeated with a 9-3 section win over Allderdice (1-1, 0-1). Evan Tomasic had two hits for Seneca Valley.

Pine-Richland 12, Butler 2

Avery Brown hit a home run for Pine-Richland (6-1, 1-0) rolled to an impressive 12-2 win over Butler (2-3, 0-1) in their section openers. Tanner Cunningham drove in four runs for Pine-Richland.

6A SECTION 2

Central Catholic 8, Hempfield 6

Antonio Cordiero and Gavin Kelly each had home runs for Central Catholic (3-2, 1-0) as they were able to drive in a couple more runs than Hempfield (2-3, 0-1) and win their section opener 8-6 on Monday afternoon. Cade Clister had two doubles for Central Catholic. 

Canon-McMillan 9, Mt. Lebanon 4

Nick Hilbert and Andrew Kocan each had three RBIs as Canon-McMillan (3-1, 1-0) outslugged Mt. Lebanon (0-5, 0-1) in their section opener on Monday.

Norwin 10, Baldwin 5

Michael Sincak struck out eight and got the win on the mound for Norwin (1-4, 1-0) as they picked up their first win of the season with a 10-5 victory over Baldwin (2-4, 0-1) on Monday afternoon. Chris Slatt had three RBIs for Norwin. Christian Forgacs homered for Baldwin.

5A SECTION 1

Penn-Trafford 2, Armstrong 0

Dylan Grabowski struck out nine on the bump and had an RBI as Penn-Trafford (4-1, 2-1) shutout Armstrong (3-2, 1-2) 2-0 on Monday. Haden Brink threw well for Armstrong striking out 10 but it wasn’t enough.

Fox Chapel 14, Penn Hills 1 – 5 innings

Dom Cassol had four hits, Mitchell Epstein had four RBIs and Fox Chapel (2-4, 2-1) rolled Penn Hills (0-3, 0-3) in a five inning section win. Ben DeMotte drove in three runs for Fox Chapel. Chyno Spearman was 2-for-2 for Penn Hills.

Gateway 3, Franklin Regional 1

Lucas Demchak drove in three runs as Gateway (4-1, 1-0) outdueled Franklin Regional (6-1, 2-1) for their first section win of the season. Nolan Boehm struck out 10 over 5.2 innings and got the win. Maxwell Bernadowski was the tough luck loser going six innings.

5A SECTION 2

Bethel Park 3, Upper St. Clair 0

Evan Holewinski threw a complete game shutout and hit a two-run homer to help Bethel Park (3-3, 1-0) get past Upper St. Clair (3-2, 0-1) in section play on Monday afternoon. Coby Goelz and Nathan Vargo each had two hits for Bethel Park.

Peters Township 15, South Fayette 11

Jack Lutte hit two home runs and drove in seven as Peters Township (3-2, 1-0) outslugged South Fayette (2-1, 0-1) in both team’s section openers on Monday. Jackson Natili had two home runs for Peters Township as well. Chase Krewson and Christian Brandi each homered for South Fayette. Lucas Cooper had three RBIs.

Connellsville 8, Trinity 4

Jake Lee went 4-for-4 and had two RBIs as Connellsville (3-2, 1-0) got their win in their section opener defeating Trinity (1-1, 0-1) 8-3. Gibson Havanis had two hits for Trinity. 

5A SECTION 3

Mars 2, West Allegheny 1

Charles Bickel had both RBIs for Mars and Jackson Fox went the distance on the mound as Mars (4-2, 1-0) won a pitcher’s duel over West Allegheny (4-2, 1-0) 2-1, on Monday afternoon. Nolan Scott had two hits for Mars.

Shaler 4, Moon 0

Miguel Hugas threw a complete game shutout and went 3-for-3 at the plate as Shaler (5-1, 1-0) shut out Moon (2-2, 0-1) on Monday. Will Marasco had two hits for Moon.

North Hills 11, New Castle 1 – 6 innings

Dylan Barnes and Tristan Weimann each had three RBIs as North Hills (5-1, 1-0) rolled New Castle (0-3, 0-1) 11-1 in six innings on Monday.

NON-SECTION

North Allegheny 8, Plum 7 – 8 innings

Andrew Hart hit a walk-off single in the eighth inning to lead North Allegheny (2-0) to a non-section win over Plum (1-4) on Monday night. JD Costanzo homered for North Allegheny while Hart and Spencer Barnett were both 3-for-4. Logan Kemmerer had two RBIs for Plum.
