Baldwin takes down top-ranked team in state Central Dauphin
After falling to North Allegheny in the WPIAL Quarterfinals and having to hope the Tigers won the WPIAL Championship to get a chance in the state playoffs, the Fighting Highlanders of Baldwin took full advantage of their second chance taking down the top-ranked team in the state Central Dauphin, 42-35, in their state first round matchup, Friday night at Milton Hershey High School.
Baldwin kept it close throughout the first half only trailing 19-17 at the half but made the necessary adjustments and had a huge second half outscoring the Rams 25-16 and pulling off the biggest upset on day one of the state playoffs.
Meghan Dryburgh led all scorers with 11 points. Nine of them came in the second half.
Baldwin improves to 13-10 overall. Up next for the Fighting Highlanders will be a date with Plymouth-Whitemarsh (24-3) the number three seed out of District 1. Plymouth-Whitemarsh defeated Pocono Mountain West 68-52 in their PIAA First Round Game.
Central Dauphin’s season ends with a 23-2 record.
