Armstrong Pulls Away From Franklin Regional In Fourth Quarter

The Armstrong girls’ basketball team broke a deadlock tie with Franklin Regional heading into the fourth quarter for a 53-44 victory and sole possession of third place in Section 4-5A.

The River Hawks and Panthers were tied 34-34 heading into the final eight minutes at Franklin Regional. A big key to closing out the game for Armstrong was their performance from the free-throw line. In the fourth quarter, they went 13 of 18 from the line, ending the game on a 12-0 run.

Leading the way was senior Kenzie Lasher with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Lasher was 9 of 12 from the free-throw line. Junior Loryn Bowser also had a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Junior Madisyn Lorigan chipped in with 13 points.

For Franklin Regional, sophomore Jordan Yaniga paced them with 11 points.

With the win, Armstrong improves to 11-4 overall and 5-2 in the section. They will host first-place Hampton on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

The loss drops Franklin Regional to 9-7 and 3-5. They are in fourth place in the section. They will host Gateway in a non-section game on Friday at 6 p.m.
