American Legion Day 1 Recap
Quakertown 11, Bushy Run 6
Facing a five-run deficit, the Quakertown Blue Jays batted around twice in the third inning scoring 11
runs and ultimately completing the comeback over the Bushy Run Beavers by a final score of 11-6. Bushy
Run looked to be in control of the contest, scoring two and three runs in the first and second innings
respectively, an 11-run third inning by Quakertown put the contest out of reach. The Beavers
saw key hits from Brody Hoffman, who doubled twice, scored twice, batted another run in, and stole a
base. The Blue Jays were led by Danny Qualteria, who had two singles, scored twice, and RBI and stolen
base. He also came in on the mound in late relief, striking out three batters. Quakertown advances to
the winner’s bracket Sunday and will face the winner of Northeastern and Bristol at 4:05 p.m. Bushy Run
falls into the loser’s bracket, playing Sunday morning facing the loser of Northeastern and Bristol at
10:15 a.m.

first after Colten Lee doubled to score Jake Wessel. Belle Vernon’s starting pitcher JB
Crovak went six innings without allowing a run, but ran into trouble in the top of the
seventh. Crovak walked the first two batters of the innings, and hit the next two which
scored Hughesville’s first run of the game. AJ Wardropper came in to relief and allowed

the first, plating two runs off of Brinden Floyd’s RBI double and Brandt Johnson’s RBI
single. They added three more runs in the bottom of the second to carry a five run lead
into the third. Northeastern’s pitching was exceptional between starter Drew Barshinger

Wesleyville (21-3) and Murrysville (22-7-1) finished day one with a pitchers dual
between Wesleyville’s Jason Fultz and Murrysville Erik Streussnig. Max Bernadowski
led the bottom of the first off with a double to left field for Murrysville, but Fultz quickly
got out of the inning without allowing a run. Fultz went on to throw a gem, pitching a
complete game and striking out 14 while walking just four in 107 pitches of work.
Streussnig was equally as good, compiling nine strikeouts of his own, but allowed one
run after Tyler Burick singled in the top of the third to score Josh Majczyk. That was
enough for Wesleyville to get the job done and they’ll now play Hughesville tomorrow in
the winner’s bracket at 7:05 PM. Murrysville, who is the tournament host, will be playing
Belle Vernon at 1:15 PM Sunday in the losers bracket.
