Quakertown 9, Northeastern 0
The Quakertown Blue Jays are on top of the state of Pennsylvania once again after a 9-0 win over the Northeastern Bobcats in Game 14 of the State Legion Baseball Championship. Just like many games in the bracket, the Blue Jays jumped out to an early lead. The first three batters in the order reached courtesy of two walks and an infield single. Cleanup hitter Cooper Natisin knocked home the game’s first run with an RBI single. Later in the frame Gerry Stanziola brought two more runs across home plate with an RBI single. Quakertown picked up three more runs in the fourth inning, as the Blue Jays batted around in the inning. Carver Perrone reached on a single and later came home to score. Danny Qualteria and Cole Reich each walked and later scored. Cooper Natisin brought two of those runs in on a single. Quakertown added three more insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth. Gunnar Rahn walked and later scored, as did Peyton Myers. Stanizola singled and also scored. Carl Weiss scored the first two runs of the inning courtesy of an RBI single. Weiss was also the starting pitcher for the Blue Jays, tossing a complete game giving up just five hits and striking out four Bobcats. Both teams qualify for the Mid- Atlantic Tournament taking place at Joe Cannon Stadium in Ridge, Maryland August 7th -11 th . Quakertown takes on New Jersey State champ Brooklawn in a doubleheader to begin play, while Northeastern faces the host team St. Mary’s, Maryland in a doubleheader Wednesday August 7th.
