Brisker’s Buzzer Beater Lifts Penn Hills At Oakland Catholic

Senior Adia Brisker’s layup went through the hoop just before the buzzer to lift Penn Hills to a 32-31 Section 3-5A win at Oakland Catholic on Thursday night.

The Indians inbounded the ball from the far side with 2.8 seconds left and down by one leading up to Brisker’s heroics.

Scoring was at a premium throughout the game, with 10 points being the highest scoring quarter by either team throughout the game. The Indians scored 10 points in the second and third quarters after only scoring four in the first.

Oakland Catholic’s highest scoring quarter was nine points in the fourth.

The win puts Penn Hills in sole possession of first place in the section.

Brisker, a Niagara University commit, finished the game with 15 points, scoring 47 percent of her team’s points.

For Oakland Catholic, senior Alexis Sestric led the way with 11 points.

With the win, Penn Hills improves to 10-3 overall and 6-0 in the section. The Indians will seek its sixth straight win on Tuesday when they host Woodland Hills in a section game at 6 p.m.

With the loss, Oakland Catholic drops to 10-2 overall and 5-1 in the section. The loss snapped a five-game win streak. The Eagles will travel to Gateway o Saturday for a non-section game at 1:30 p.m.
