The Seneca Valley girls’ basketball team hosted Keystone Oaks for their “Hoops for the Cure” pink-out game. Both teams played well, but the Lady Raiders ultimately came out victorious with a score of 47-37.

The Raiders dominated the first half of the game by keeping a slow and steady pace on the Golden Eagles. They capitalized on missed shots by their opponent to gain a strong lead. Defensively, the Raiders held off the Golden Eagles allowing them to score only 6 points by the end of the half. 

Keystone Oaks came back strong in the second half. In an attempt to get back into the game, the Golden Eagles fought offensively to regain the score. Keystone Oaks was able to narrow Seneca’s lead to 32-15 by the end of the third quarter.

The fourth quarter proved to be an offensive battle for both the Raiders and Golden Eagles. Both teams fought to gain possession of ball to secure the win. Although the Golden Eagles scored 22 points before the buzzer sounded, it was not enough to defeat the Lady Raiders.

Top scorers for the Raiders were senior Abbie Trzeciak who scored 14 of the Raiders’ points and sophomore Lexus Lambert who scored 12. Among the other top performers of the game were Melissa Carter and Sarah Jones.

The “Hoops for the Cure” game was in honor of breast cancer awareness, and a portion of the proceeds was donated to the PA Breast Cancer Coalition. To honor women diagnosed with breast cancer, the Lady Raiders wore white and pink uniforms.

The Raiders next game is Monday, February 10.  They will play Bethel Park in their last game of the regular season.
