Coach Tim McConnell picks up 600th win in Chartiers Valley’s win against Trinity

Chartiers Valley coach Tim McConnell picked up career win number 600 Monday night in a 67-48 statement win over Kathy McConnell-Millers’ Trinity Hillers. The Colts used stellar defense and transition offense to pull away from Trinity in the second half.

Trinity had a strong start to the game as they jumped out to a 10-2 lead early in the first quarter. Chartiers Valley settled in and went on a 14-2 run to end the quarter and take a 16-12 lead. The second quarter was when Chartiers Valley started to separate themselves, outscoring Trinity 14-8, taking a 30-20 lead into the locker room.

The Colts continued the momentum in the third quarter going on a 7-0 run to start the period and had a 17-point lead. Trinity continued to fight getting the deficit down 11 by the end of the quarter. It was all offense for Chartiers Valley in the fourth quarter as they scored 25 points and pulled away for the victory.

Chartiers Valley improves to 18-0 overall and 11-0 in Section 1-5A. The win extends the Colts winning streak to 48 games dating back to last year. Chartiers Valley will head to West Allegheny on Thursday in a Section 1-5A matchup at 7:30 p.m. With a win in that game, the Colts will clinch at least a share of the section title.

Trinity falls to 13-3 overall and 9-2 in Section 1-5A. The loss snaps the Hillers six-game win streak. Next up for Trinity is a trip to Moon on Thursday night in another tough section game at 7:30 p.m
