For the third time this season, the Chartiers Valley Colts and Trinity Hillers met with the Colts winning the first two. The stakes were higher this time, but the result was the same as the Colts rolled 58-40 to win their second straight WPIAL Championship and third in four years. The Colts win was also their 55th in a row.

The first quarter was tight with Trinity controlling the pace not allowing Chartiers Valley to run the floor, the Colts still had the lead though, 10-7, behind two 3-pointers from Perri Page. More of the same in the second quarter as the Colts continued to keep the Hillers at arm’s length. Chartiers Valley really got the offense going in the third quarter and got their first double digit lead of the day, up 40-28 heading into the final stanza. The fourth quarter was all Chartiers Valley as they coasted to a 58-40 victory and their third WPIAL title.

Aislin Malcolm led Chartiers Valley with 23 points and eight rebounds. Page had 14 points and Megan McConnell added 10 points.

Kaylin Venick led Trinity with 13 points while Riley DeRubbo added 10.

Chartiers Valley improves to 25-0 overall and extends their win streak to 55 games. The state title defense now begins for the Colts as they will take on Warren (17-8) the third-place finisher in District 10 on Saturday, March 7 at 3 p.m. at South Fayette High School.

Trinity falls to 19-5 overall. The Hillers also qualified for the state tournament where they will take on Penn Hills right after the Chartiers Valley game at 4:30 p.m. at South Fayette High School.
