#4 Bethel Park vs. #13 Seneca Valley
In a closely contested WPIAL first round meeting, Bethel Park and Seneca Valley were tied 23-23 heading into the fourth quarter before the Black Hawks finally sprung loose for a 36-29 victory on Tuesday night. Senior Harper Zimmer lit the fire for the Black Hawks in the final stanza with a three-pointer to open the quarter and a two-point field goal not long after. Zimmer led all scorers with 11 points in the defensive struggle. Freshman Erin Danik led the Raiders with seven points. Bethel Park jumps to 17-5 on the year and will take on Hempfield in the quarterfinals.  Seneca Valley wraps up the year with a mark of 10-13.

#3 Fox Chapel vs. #14 Pine-Richland
Senior Erin Mathias narrowly missed out on a triple-double as the Fox Chapel Foxes outlasted the Pine-Richland Rams in the opening round of the playoffs, 47-37. Mathias netted 25 points, pulled down 16 rebounds and posted eight blocks. The Duke-recruit also scored nine points in a pivotal third quarter for the Foxes.  Pine-Richland led 20-18 at halftime, but the Foxes busted out in the third quarter by outscoring the Rams, 19-5. PR’s Chelsea Rourke and Caitlyn Byerly scored 15 and 14 points, respectively, in the loss. Fox Chapel now sits with a record of 18-4 while Pine-Richland ends its campaign with a record of 14-9.

#6 Norwin vs. #11 Penn Hills
Norwin opened up a big first half lead and held off a furious Penn Hills rally in the fourth for a 55-48 triumph in the first round of the WPIAL Playoffs on Tuesday night. The Knights poured it on in the first 16 minutes for a 35-19 advantage behind an 18 point and 12 rebound performance from Alayna Gribble, and a 13 point effort by Delany Arbore.  However, the Indians were on the warpath in fourth quarter and cut the deficit to five points late in the game, but could come no closer in defeat. Penn Hills was paced by Desiree Oliver’s 21 points and Jade Ely’s 19. Norwin improves to 17-5 and will face Fox Chapel in the quarterfinals.  Penn Hills finishes with a 14-9 mark.
