Trinity Tramples South Fayette, 68-37

The No. 2 ranked team in 5A proved their worth with suffocating defense and balanced offense en route to a 68-37 victory over South Fayette Monday night.

Trinity scored the first nine points of the game and didn’t look back, leading 17-6 after a quarter. In the second quarter, Trinity’s defense revved up even more holding South Fayette to two points in the entire quarter and held a 33-8 halftime lead.

South Fayette got the offense going a little in the second half scoring 29 points, but Trinity’s bench continued to score and ultimately won the game, 68-37.

Riley DeRubbo was the PlayerPager Player of the Game leading all scorers with 17 points. Courtney Dahlquist added 15 points, Alyssa Clutter added 12 points and Ashley Durig had 10 points off the bench.

Madison Burroughs was the only South Fayette player in double figures with 12 points.

Trinity improves to 5-1 overall and 1-0 in Section 1-5A. They will continue section play Thursday night on the road against Montour.

South Fayette falls to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in Section 1-5A. The Lions look to bounce back on Thursday when they take on Lincoln Park at home.
