Peters Township Girls Soccer Knocks Out District 10 Champions
The Peters Township girls soccer team scored three unanswered goals on Tuesday afternoon to defeat District 10 champion, McDowell, 3-1 at Dollinger Field in Erie in the PIAA First Round.
The Trojans jumped out to a 1-0 lead with 11 minutes remaining in the first half. It didn’t take long for the Indians to respond. Just over a minute later, sophomore Sarah Heisinger evened the score up and the two teams headed into halftime tied.
After no score for the first 22 minutes of the second half, freshman CeCe Scott delivered the game-winning goal for the Indians. Heisinger put the finishing touches on with her second goal of the game and insurance for the Indians.
Peters Township improves to 17-4 and will face District 3 champion, Cumberland Valley, in the PIAA quarterfinals on Saturday at Mansion Park Stadium in Altoona at noon.
