Peters Township Girls Soccer Knocks Out Another District Champion

For the second PIAA playoff game in a row, the Peters Township girls soccer team eliminated a district. The Indians latest victim was District 3 champion, Cumberland Valley, with a 2-1 win in the state quarterfinals at Mansion Park Stadium in Altoona on Saturday.

This is the first appearance in the PIAA semifinals since they won it all in 2012. They defeated Cumberland Valley in the finals that year.

The Indians got on the board first on a goal in the 13th minute by freshman CeCe Scott. Cumberland Valley tied it up with a goal in the 34th minute.

The game remained tied until the early parts of the second half. Six minutes into the second half, freshman Jillian Marvin got the game-winning goal for the Indians. The stout defense for Peters Township was able to have the one goal lead hold up.

The win improves Peters Township to 18-4. The Indians will face District 1 runner-up, Souderton, in the PIAA semifinals on Tuesday at Chambersburg High School at 4:30 p.m.
