After trailing early, the Trinity Hillers made the correct second half adjustments running away with a 50-33 semifinal win against the Woodland Hills Wolverines Wednesday night at Mt. Lebanon High School. This is Trinity’s first WPIAL finals appearance since 2016.

Scoring was difficult for Trinity in the first period. They didn’t score in the first five minutes of the game and trailed 10-7 after a quarter. The Hillers flipped the script in the second quarter outscoring Woodland Hills 12-4 and had a 19-14 lead heading into halftime. Trinity expanded the lead to double digits in the third quarter and ran away with it in the fourth quarter ultimately winning 50-33.

Riley DeRubbo led all scorers with 18 points for Trinity. Courtney Dahlquist added 10 points.

Joi Burleigh led Woodland Hills with 11 points.

Trinity improves to 19-4 overall. Up next for the Hillers will be section foe Chartiers Valley in the WPIAL Championship at the Petersen Event Center Saturday at 3 p.m. Chartiers Valley swept Trinity in the regular season.

Woodland Hills falls to 19-5 overall. Despite the loss, the Wolverines will be playing in the state playoffs. The PIAA First Round starts Saturday, March 7.
