The Thomas Jefferson girls basketball team continues to prove everyone wrong.

The Jaguars entered the Class 5A WPIAL playoffs as the No. 6 seed and made it all the way to the WPIAL title game before losing to Chartiers Valley.

They were able to quickly rebound and now find themselves with another date with the Colts, this time in the PIAA semifinals.

TJ got their with a 48-39 win against District 3 champion, Palmyra, on Saturday at Altoona High School.

The Jaguars started out strong offensively, scoring 18 points in the first quarter, and then relied on their defense the rest of the way, allowing nine points in each of the final three quarters.

This is the furthest the program has made it into the state playoffs.

Junior Alyssa DeAngelo led the team with 14 points. Senior Jenna Clark was right behind her with 13 points.

Thomas Jefferson improves to 22-7 and will have its fourth shot at Chartiers Valley on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Peters Township.
