It was unfamiliar territory for the Peters Township girls basketball team on Monday night. Facing the defending Class 6A state champions, Upper Dublin out of District one, the Indians found themselves trailing late throughout the game, including late in regulation.

Thanks to a clutch free throw by freshman Journey Thompson to send the game into overtime and a quick spurt to control the game in overtime, Peters Township will be playing in the title game for the first time in program history after a 51-46 win at Bald Eagle High School.

With just under a minute and a half left in regulation, the undefeated Indians were trailing by five, 39-34, by senior standout Makenna Marisa went 4 for 4 from the line to cut the deficit to one before Thompson made 1 of 2 to send the game into overtime.

Peters Township never trailed in overtime and led by as many as seven points.

Marisa led the Indians with 14 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter and overtime. she finished the game 8 for 8 from the free-throw line.

Thompson and senior Isabella Mills each tallied 12 points. Mills was a perfect 4 for 4 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter.

With the win, Peters Township improves to 29-0. The Indians will face District 1 champion, Garnet Valley (29-1), in the Class 6A PIAA Championship Game on Friday at 6 p.m. at the Giant Center in Hershey.
