Offense Comes Alive Late To Keep Penn-Trafford Softball Undefeated

The top-ranked Class 5A softball team couldn’t get anything going through the first four innings against Franklin Regional.

After not getting a hit, Penn-Trafford erupted for 11 in the final three innings, scoring four runs in the fifth and three more in the seventh to come away with a 7-1 Section 1-5A road win to remain undefeated.

Junior Morgan Hilty and freshman Mia Smith combined on the mound to allow one run on four hits.

Junior Jess Lichota, sophomore Lizzie Horvat, freshman Hannah Allen, and seniors Madison Forsythe, and Emma Armstrong had key hits in the fifth inning to take a 4-1 lead.  

Armstrong and sophomore Brooke Cleland had the big blows in the seventh inning with back-to-back home runs.

Forsythe, Armstrong, and Lichota each had a multiple hit game for the Warriors.

Penn-Trafford improves to 8-0 overall and 7-0 in the section. The Warriors will host Albert Gallatin today, April 17, in a section game at 4:15 p.m.

Franklin Regional drops to 6-4 overall and 5-2 in the section. The Panthers will host Connellsville today, April 17, in a section game at 4 p.m.
