Mt. Lebanon Suffocates Upper St. Clair To Claim Third Place In Section

With third place in Section 3-6A on the line on Monday night, the Mt. Lebanon girls’ basketball team delivered.

The Blue Devils held Upper St. Clair to eight points in the first half to come away with a 44-35 win at home.

The Panthers only mustered four points in each of the first two quarters, falling behind 17-8 at the half.

SeniorĀ Alyssa Hyland led the Blue Devils with a game-high 17 points. The Panthers didn’t have anyone in double figures, but were led by juniorĀ Lindsay Meyer with nine points.

The win improves Mt. Lebanon to 10-10 overall and 6-4 in the section. The Blue Devils will end the regular season on Thursday at Altoona at 7:30 p.m.

Upper St. Clair drops to 9-9 overall and 5-5 in the section. The Panthers finished in fourth place in the section and qualified for the playoffs. They will host Seton-LaSalle tonight at 7:30 p.m.
