Mars Hits Century Mark In Win Against West Allegheny

The Mars boys basketball team have been a scoring machine thus far this season, and they were finally able to hit the century mark in their 100-57 Class 5A Section 2 win against West Allegheny.

Through eight games this season, the Planets are averaging 81.7 points per game.

Mars scored at least 23 points in every quarter, including 29 in the first quarter to get to triple digits.

Leading the way like he has his whole career was senior Notre Dame recruit, Robby Carmody with 26 points. Also scoring in double figures for the Planets were junior Andrew Recchia and senior Cade Hetzler with 22 and 16 points, respectively. Senior Roman Votour led the Indians with 17 points.

The win improves Mars’ record to 6-2 and 2-0 in the section. They are tied for first in the section with Moon, and will try to keep their perfect section record going on Friday when they travel to Montour at 7:30 p.m. West Allegheny drops to 4-5 and 2-1 and will host Montour next Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
