Latrobe Remains Undefeated In Section Play

In a battle for first place, Latrobe went on the road and led from start to finish in its 79-63 win at Fox Chapel in Section 3-6A action on Tuesday night.

The Wildcats now hold a two-game lead on Fox Chapel and Penn-Trafford in the standings.

It also gives them a season sweep of the Foxes, who they beat 66-62 on Dec. 21.

Latrobe jumped out to a 15-6 lead before Fox Chapel’s first rally cut the deficit to 19-18 after the first quarter.

The Wildcats jumped out to a double-digit lead, opening the second quarter on a 9-0 run. Again, the Foxes trimmed the lead, heading into halftime down 36-30.

Latrobe controlled the entire second half, upping its lead to 20 points at one point.

Leading the way for Latrobe was senior Bryce Butler with 29 points. Senior Reed Fenton finished with 23 points and sophomore Ryan Sickenberger added 15 points.

For Fox Chapel, junior Sam Brown finished with 26 points. Junior Arnold Vento added 17 points.

With the win, Latrobe improves to 13-2 overall and 6-0 in the section. The Wildcats will go for their sixth straight win on Friday when they host Penn-Trafford in a section game at 7:30 p.m.

Fox Chapel drops to 9-6 overall and 4-2 in the section. The Foxes will look to snap its two game losing streak on Friday when they travel to Hempfield for a section game at 7:30 p.m.
