Late Bucket Leads Woodland Hills Back to WPIAL semifinals

Freshman Hope Hawkins‘ put back with nine seconds left lifted No. 5 Woodland Hills (13-6) to a 48-44 in at No. 4 Thomas Jefferson (12-10) in the girls basketball WPIAL Class 5A quarterfinals.

Hawkins finished with 10 points. Senior Peyton Pinkney led the Wolverines with 17 points. Junior Jazmine Dunn finished with 10 points.

Woodland Hills fell behind by five points at halftime, but a 13-6 run in the third quarter got them right back in the game.

For the second year in a row, Woodland Hills will face Trinity in the WPIAL Semifinals. The game will be on Thursday at 6 p.m.
