Facing an opponent that wouldn’t have qualified for the postseason in a normal season, No. 12 Franklin Regional came alive in the fourth quarter to upend visiting No. 21 Armstrong, 49-43 in the Class 5A WPIAL Preliminary Round.

After scoring only three points in the third quarter, the Panthers scored nearly half of their whole game total with 22 points in the final eight minutes to erase a two point deficit entering the fourth quarter.

Franklin Regional had three players score 40 of their 49 points, led by senior Kadyn Hannah with 16 points. Junior Caden Smith and senior Luke Kimmich scored 14 and 10 points, respectively.

The Panthers will travel to No. 5 Mars on Wednesday for a WPIAL First Round matchup. Tip-off is at 6 p.m.
