On Friday Night, Bethel Park’s defense stood tall, stopping Upper St. Clair on a game-winning two-point conversion attempt to come away with a 14-13 road win.

With the win, the Black Hawks also finished a game ahead of the Panthers for third place in the section. Both teams have already qualified for the Class 5A WPIAL playoffs starting next week.

Bethel Park (6-3, 5-2) got both of their touchdowns in the first half. In the first quarter, Sean McGowan cross the goal line first on a 3-yard run.

The Black Hawks jumped out to a two score lead in the second quarter on a 32-yard touchdown catch by Jehvonn Lewis from Anthony Chiccitt. John Gummo converted on both extra points for Bethel Park.

Upper St. Clair (6-4, 4-3) did all the scoring in the second half, starting with a 3-yard run by Danny Harkleroad.

As time was running out in the fourth quarter, the Panthers got what looked like the game-tying touchdown and extra point on a 1-yard run by Ethan Dahlem, but the failed two-point conversion allowed Bethel Park to hold on to the one point win.

McGowan finished the night with 127 rushing yards and a touchdown to lead Bethel Park.
