Bezjak Lifts Albert Gallatin Into Class 5A State Tournament
Ally Bezjak was not ready for her season to end. In the Class 5A WPIAL Consolation Game, Bezjak drove in three runs, including the game-winning run in the eighth inning to lift Albert Gallatin to a 4-3 win against Connellsville at Seton Hill University on Tuesday.
Bezjak’s single in the eighth inning qualified the Colonials for the PIAA tournament, beginning on Monday. Maddie Flowers scored the winning run after a triple.
Bezjak also belted a two-run home run in the game.
The winning pitcher for Albert Gallatin was Maddy Hershberger, who pitched four innings in relief.
This also served as the rubber match between the section rivals, with each team winning on the road.
The Colonials improve to 13-4 on the season and will play the winner of District 6, 9 and 10 in the first round on Monday.
