Bethel Park Flexes Muscles Against Oakland Catholic

Bethel Park and Oakland Catholic are two of the top teams in girls basketball in their respective classifications. On Thursday night, Bethel Park was the best team on the court with a 64-47 win at home.

The Eagles were able to hang with the Black Hawks for the first half, trailing 29-28 at halftime, but the home team was able to break it open in the third quarter. Bethel Park outscored Oakland Catholic 19-8 in the third quarter and never looked back.

Leading the way for Bethel Park was freshman Olivia Westphal with 20 points. Westphal connected on four 3-points. For Oakland Catholic, juniors Alexis Sestric and Sierra DeAngelo had 17 and 15 points, respectively.

With the win, Bethel Park improves to 10-3. The Black Hawks will return to section play on Monday in a first-place showdown at Peters Township.

Oakland Catholic drops to 8-4 and will stay out of the section on Saturday against Villa Maria Academy out of Erie.
