Alex Frey Silences Laurel Highlands’ bats in win for Franklin Regional

Laurel Highlands has been pounding the ball against almost all of its opponents this season, but that didn’t matter to Franklin Regional senior Alex Frey.

Frey pitched 6.1 innings of no-hit ball in leading the Panthers to a 2-0 Section 3-5A win. Junior Palmer Jackson came on to get the save, allowing two hits but was able to preserve the shutout.

The Panthers scored theirs runs in the first two innings, recording a tally in each frame.

Juniors Jake Williams and Michael Klingensmith came around to score the runs after base hits.

The win improves Franklin Regional 10-3 overall and 8-2 in the section. The Panthers still sit in third place. The Panthers will travel to Woodland Hills today for a section game at 4 p.m.

Laurel Highlands drops to 11-1 overall and in the section. They lead Gateway by a game in the section and will host the Gators today at 4 p.m. in a pivotal section game.
